Due to the rapid global expansion of our business, we are now looking for an experienced HR Mobility Manager to join our team, supporting us with our ambitious international growth strategy.  As a subject matter expert and strategic partner, they will support the business in achieving our business objectives and talent strategies in relation to the cross- border deployment of people in a compliant and efficient manner and the recruitment of employees into non-UK based roles. They will work closely with the REE and Rail HR Directors to develop and promote mobility within Ricardo, helping to ensure that overseas employees are fully integrated into our culture and processes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Be the go-to expert in the HR function for all matters related to cross-border movement of employees and their families, including more informal cross-border working.
  • Work alongside the recruitment team in advising them on issues around the employment of non-UK based staff.
  • Be the main point of contact for business stakeholders to advise on the various options around international movements (including in locations where we do not currently have a Ricardo presence) to ensure the most appropriate outcome is achieved. 
  • Actively support and knowledge share international HR knowledge with those in the HR team and wider business colleagues to enable them to provide the necessary support to non-UK based employees through our usual processes, having an awareness of relevant international HR aspects.
  • Stay up to date with changing regulations, trends and industry practices, consulting with internal stakeholders and external vendors as needed. 
  • Set up appropriate policies, procedures and advisory channels to ensure our global mobility activities are managed effectively
  • Work with HR colleagues to ensure that processes around the employment of non-UK staff are effectively integrated within our existing systems and procedures.
  • Prepare business case costings for the cross-border movement of existing staff and, working with the recruitment team, on the costs associated with the recruitment of staff into non-UK countries.
  • Work with external immigration partners and external global mobility advisors to provide employment immigration support and identify practical solutions to our cross-border movement requirements. 
  • Work with our Group Corporate Tax function to ensure that any cross-border movements and recruitment activities are fully compliant re taxation aspects and all risks are managed. 
  • Work with our Payroll function to ensure proper administration of expatriate payroll, compensation, and benefits including shadow payroll. 
  • Conduct briefings with employees to ensure full understanding of any terms and conditions around their global mobility movements. 
  • Take the lead in providing support to the employees and their families in any cross-border movements, ensuring that all necessary arrangements are made to support them in their moves and that moves are managed effectively to meet business requirements.
  • Responsible for the forecasting of Global Mobility related costs and considerations for budgeting and business planning processes. 
  • Work with the HR Operations Manager to develop appropriate global mobility reports, and subsequently providing insights and management reporting on a regular basis to ensure visibility of movements and spend.

Key competencies and experience
    
Essential:

  • Good understanding of global mobility issues and concepts such as immigration, taxation, permanent establishment, assignments/secondments, transfers, shadow payroll etc.
  • Proactive planning and communication skills – taking a pragmatic approach.
  • Confident presenting to others.
  • Experience in an operational Global Mobility function.
  • Experience in a multinational organisation, working across a number of non-UK countries.
  • Ability to develop GM solutions, obtain approval for them and then to take the necessary steps quickly and effectively to support the move of the employee/family.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and perform accurately under time pressures and constraints
    Confident professional manner.
    Set an example by high quality of own work, consistency, enthusiasm and an open and professional attitude throughout the workplace.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications including Excel capabilities and ideally Global Mobility tracking tools.
  • International HR experience.
  • Familiarity with gathering and analysing overseas salary and benefits benchmarking data.
