The Role:

Our positive reputation in the Water Industry has seen our Water Team continuing to win a large quantity of environment-related frameworks for water companies across England and Wales. Therefore, we are seeking to appoint an Water Resources Specialist, with a focus on Hydro-ecology and Environmental Assessment, at either Senior or Principal level.

We are looking for an experienced Environmental Consultant who has a strong understanding of the links between Hydrology, Ecology and Water Resource Planning and is capable of directing and providing technical input into a wide range of Water Resource Management and Drought Management Environmental Assessments and Risk Analysis. The role requires effective working with water companies, regulators, planners, developers, design engineers and contractors to achieve positive outcomes for Water Resource strategies and scheme developments. Tasks may include interpreting models and data, review and analysis of statistical trends, undertaking Environmental Assessments and providing advice on impacts, mitigation and monitoring plans for a range of Water Resource and mitigation projects. Technical input into proposals are all part of the role, as is coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.

The role will be challenging, varied and offer excellent opportunities for technical skill and wider career development.

About you:

You will have experience working within a Water Consultancy and working directly with UK Water Companies. An understanding of UK Water Policy and legislation, Water Resources Management and Drought Planning, and how the Water Framework Directive is integral to/embedded with Environmental Assessments is also required.

You will need to a demonstrate relevant technical skills with a strong background in hydrology and links with ecology. You will have the ability to lead various hydrology/ecology projects, for example Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP) scheme appraisals, Water Framework Directive compliance assessments, and support the development of Water Resource Management and Drought Plans Environmental Assessments. Technical leadership and coaching and mentoring junior staff on various technical aspects of Environmental Assessment will be essential.

You will understand, technically, how Environmental Assessments support best environmental and customer outcomes and related water resources planning outcomes and will be able to identify risks and opportunities.

You will also have experience of technical leadership on complex Environmental Assessment Water Resource projects and will have regulatory and stakeholder management experience and understanding.

You will also be expected to provide technical input into relevant water and environment proposals and to win work under our frameworks and beyond.

You will have excellent team working and communication skills, plus the ability to manage and prioritise workload. Experience in team or project management will be advantageous.

You will have a degree in a relevant environmentally based subject. Learning and Development of our employees is important to us, therefore we offer all employees a personal Learning and Development plan, this includes supporting you work toward or maintaining chartered status or membership to a relevant professional body.

You will have a clean driving licence, and competency in MS Office applications.
