The role we are seeking to fill is that of an Infrastructure Assessor to support our Independent Assurance business areas for safety and compliance assessments.

Recently we won a couple of projects for assessment work (NOBO/ ISA/ ASBO/ DEBO) in the Netherlands and abroad (Serbia, Danmark), therefor we would like to grow our team.

Job Description

We are seeking a consultant with a general experience of railway infrastructure and the compliance with interoperability directive  and the associated TSIs and other standards relevant to infrastructure projects.

In the assurance work we perform you will be required to review and assess compliance with standards such as the Infrastructure TSI, Safety on Railway Tunnels TSI and National Technical Rules, but also independently review safety risk assessments following CSM regulations and more general functional safety standards. This will require you to have a good knowledge of railway infrastructure systems such as track, tunnels, signalling or electrification/civils.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • Lead the assurance (NoBo/DeBo/AsBo/ISA) independent safety assessment services on projects.
  • Support and contribute to the delivery of projects, including attending meetings with clients and other stakeholders.
  • Interface with domain experts from other disciplines within Ricardo, for example, Railway Operations, Rolling Stock and Power Supply.
  • Maintaining your own competence and knowledge to be at the forefront of the railway assurance industry.

Qualifications required:

  • Degree educated in civil engineering discipline

Technical expertise & skills required:

  • Rail Regulations including the Infrastructure TSI and Safety on Railway Tunnels TSI.
  • Safety engineering (The Yellow Book, Common Safety Methods for Risk Assessment and equivalent) and EN50126/8/9.
  • Analytical and methodical problem solving.
  • A visible passion for the rail industry.
  • Versatile and adaptable, able to operate under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, in the English language written and spoken, preferably in German as well.
  • Flexibility to travel if required.
  • Working abroad (including Asia and Middle East) if necessary
