Ricardo Rail is a global multi-disciplinary rail consultancy providing services in expert advice and independent assurance across the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia where we employ c500 consultants working on rolling stock, infrastructure and independent assurance projects.

Our UK Rail business employs c130 consultants in offices in London, Preston, York, Bristol and Derby, which is our head office.

We provide consultancy and independent assurance services, including NoBo, DeBo, AsBo and ISA, across infrastructure and rolling stock to a clients including infrastructure managers, train manufactures, equipment manufacturers and maintainers.

Rail Senior Assessor  - London/ Bristol

To lead the technical assessments to check compliance to the relevant  standards  for a major Rail Infrastructure upgrade. To lead the AsBo assessment activities and audits within their specific field of expertise.

Key Responsibilities of this role

  • Undertake the compliance assessment that is required by  TSI and NNTRs and is in accordance with the selected assessment module, to confirm the extent of compliance.
  • Build an effective working relationship with TSI  assessors responsible for NR’s project design, build and commissioning. Foster an environment that promotes open and free flowing exchange of technical information between all parties.
  • Guide and direct the NoBo and AsBo assessors aimed at securing the same quality and consistency of work from each assessor.
  • Prepare technical reports and be the technical approving authority for all (TSI) reports produced by the NoBo
  • Supervise production of Energy (TSI) compliance work to verify that it meets the requirements of the NR contract and those of RR’ internal governance.
  • On an ongoing basis, verify the competency of the supporting assessors and take timely steps so that competence is maintained throughout the entire duration of the project.
  • Manage/undertake general assessment activities, as directed by the Technical Manager and/or AsBo Lead, in order to ascertain whether the changes being implemented by NR are in accordance with the requirements of the CSM REA
  • Work closely with the Notified Body to ensure that there is no duplication of activities and to share details of non-compliances and hazards/risks which have been identified so that appropriate action by the relevant body can be taken.
  • Generate and manage others generating Assessment Records/Safety Notices to capture assessor comments and project responses to comments.
  • Support the AsBo Lead in preparation and delivery of Assessment reports.

Interface accountabilities of this role

  • Engineers and experts within NR’s Designers, accountable for  (TSI) design, build and commissioning.
  • CRL systems engineers regarding progress and status of compliance of checking the  (TSI) designs, including any specific issues.
  • Authors of NR documents being assessed by the AsBo
  • NR and their contractors undertaking activities being assessed by the AsBo

Specific training on AsBo and NoBo will given if required.
