As an ESG Data Lead, you will play a pivotal role in advancing our vision. The role is a critical part of Ricardo’s ESG/ GHG external reporting and a lead energizing role in data acquisition to help achieve our Targets. It requires drive, motivation, and a degree of persistence to achieve regulated data publication. A ESG data and project management combination to achieve accurate and timely results.

The Successful Candidates main responsibilities will be:

  • Drive collection of inputs to allow Ricardo to achieve Reasonable Assurance across Scope 1, 2 & 3 reporting internally and externally.
  • Drive collection of non GHG (greenhouse gas) ESG related data.
  • Position and operate the ESG Transformation Workstream to lead actions emerging.
  • Strategically drive action plans to meet sustainability and RBC set targets.
  • Lead FigBytes (software platform) data aggregation from the hub managers and finance to ensure a complete set of financial and non-financial data are available. Responsible for accuracy and completeness of data set.
  • Provide monthly dashboards and action plans with each BU and Group – to be used as the basis for carbon reduction glidepath planning.
  • Interface with CE&ES business unit technical specialists (via a retention budget) to remain current on legislative changes – current reporting period and forthcoming, calculation methodologies and updates to Emissions Factors.
  • Interface and Management of external auditor to achieve the standard required to reach Reasonable Assurance.

Tasks will include:

  • Develop familiarity with FigBytes data collection, input, report configuration and acting as a trainer for users.
  • Drive monthly/quarterly data providers to ensure complete data sets are achieved using gap analysis features across all inputs – financial, non–financial and locations required to report.
  • Ensure emissions factors and calculation methodology are correct for the data together with reporting units and currency.
  • Check monthly dashboards are complete, correct and distributed to BU’s and Group.
  • Manage interface with LRQA (Auditor) for checking and assessment of our data.
  • Contribute sections to the annual report – especially related to data reporting – water, waste, utilities, and the attestation table section.
  • Lead the bi-weekly ESG workstream sessions to drive change, improvement, and review progress against the workstream activities – emission and waste reduction, utilities reductions, social and charitable data capture.
  • Lead ISO 500001 actions and audit readiness.
  • Contribute data and reports into the monthly ESG Forum and relevant sections of the bi-annual RBC Board packs.
  • Work with procurement function and ESG Sustainable Procurement team to drive Scope 3 Cat 1 reductions and supplier data reporting enhancements are enacted.
  • Lead the annual Commuting Survey to populate corporate GHG data.

The Successful candidate will need to have the following skills and behaviours:    

  • Analytical proficiency: Excellent numerical and analytical skills with the ability to assess ESG data and metrics, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.  
  • Effective communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear annual reports.
  • Project management: Proficiency including the ability to manage, coordinate, and prioritise activities to ensure the timely and budget-conscious delivery of deliverables.
  • Regulatory awareness: Staying current with evolving global sustainability and ESG regulations, disclosure requirements and industry best practices. Strong knowledge and applicability of reporting requirements at the UK and EU levels are essential.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to evolving ESG landscapes and industry-specific challenges while maintaining a collaborative mindset to work effectively with a team of sustainability experts.
  • Collaborative team member: providing leadership and expertise in data reporting while maintaining a collaborative mindset to work effectively with a team of sustainability experts.
  • Flexibility: A flexible approach, with the ability to support colleagues and juggle various tasks in a fast-paced operational environment.       

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Lead stakeholder engagement exercises including conducting interviews, surveys, and workshops to gather valuable input for materiality assessments.
  • Oversee the analysis of ESG data and metrics, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities relevant to each client.
  • Contribute to sustainability and annual reports that provide clear insights and adhere to ESG reporting standards.
