The Energy Practice
Ricardo Energy & Environment’s Energy Practice is a team consisting of over 50 consultants who are highly experienced professionals specialising in techno-economic and management consultancy services for the private and public sector. The strength of the Energy Practice is our ability to combine strategic, financial/economic and technical advice as an integrated consultancy service to public and private sector clients. Our team of energy consultants are qualified in a range of commercial, engineering, scientific, economic and financial disciplines.
You will be an experienced business development professional and a bioenergy expert, client facing and responsible for developing and delivering technical services related to decarbonisation of energy and industry. You should be familiar with the bioenergy sector and the key players in the market, as well as key factors and risks (technical, regulatory and international) that impact biomass development.
Your key focus will be: policy support (assessing and developing policy and guidance); biomass supply and sustainability (including supply and the use of wastes and carbon); options for biomass use (including non-energy use) and due diligence.
Your key accountabilities
You will have a proven track record of establishing high levels of sales leads and managing opportunities for consulting services through the entire sales cycle and securing a profitable order. You will have the ability to understand and explain our services to technical and risk focused personnel and decision makers, and develop compelling solutions tailored to their needs.
·Lead and support the project teams during the successful delivery of work.
·Design and implement a sales plan to grow the bioenergy sub-sector to increase our market presence in the UK and overseas.
·Contribute to identifying new offerings and market requirements that the business can develop and sell to existing or new customers through established/ new channels.
·Establish and maintain existing relationships at senior levels within the bioenergy customer base.
·Establish internal relationships with consultants across the wider Energy Practice to support their business development and project delivery where appropriate.
·Maintain the Ricardo premium brand and strong track record of delivering customer excellence.
Your competencies and experience:
·a mechanical, processes or chemical engineering or a scientist degree (MSc).
·experience in biomass technical feasibility and due diligence.
·an understanding of government policies relating to biomass, biofuels, CHP and heat markets in UK and Europe.
·an understanding of how the use of biomass for energy fits into the wider bioeconomy, including sustainability issues and carbon emissions.
·significant experience of working in a consultancy or an evaluation team at a utilities company.
·demonstrated attention to detail, technical report writing ability and an ability to assimilate information quickly.
·proven experience in networking, business development, CRM and proposal writing.
·capability and willingness to be self-sufficient in prospect generation, with support from the wider team, including marketing to supplement their own activity.
·a full UK driving licence.
