Job Description

Ricardo Defense has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance Team. This Senior Accountant provides critical support to the corporation by ensuring fiscal responsibility, accurate financial reporting, and compliance with laws, regulations, policies/procedures, and contract requirements. This Senior Accountant role performs a variety of accounting and analytical tasks.


This position allows for some remote work and a flexible work schedule (Monday-Friday) with occasional overtime during surges in workload. Most work will be performed at our Troy & Sterling Heights, MI locations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and records accounting transactions within the guidelines of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and maintaining appropriate documentation as support.
  • Manage and track the corporations’ physical assets and equipment.
  • Overseeing financial accounting, preventive maintenance, identification, movement and theft prevention of the fixed assets.
  • Prepares and records all fixed asset transactions including maintaining the ledgers as well as ensuring that proper documentation and approvals are complete to support the purchases and disposals in accordance with corporate policies      and GAAP rules. 
  • Assist payroll team with bi-weekly tasks to complete payroll submission.
  • Prepare all applicable journal entries for month end close as well as balance sheet reconciliations to include adjustments and corrections as needed.
  • Provide timely and accurate reports and related information both internally and externally as requested or scheduled by auditors.
  • All other assigned tasks by senior leadership team, director of accounting and accounting supervisor.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration from an accredited college or university.\

Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States Government Secret Security Clearance. The minimum requirement to obtain a      Security clearance is United States Citizenship. Applicants that do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

A minimum of five years of experience in the Accounting/Finance field is required.

Fixed Asset Management experience is a plus.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in entering financial data.

Outstanding math and research skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Deadline-driven with excellent time management ability.

Highly proficient in Microsoft applications, with a strong emphasis on Excel.

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines.

Strong organizational skills and coordination skills, ability to work independently, quick learner, team player, proactive and goal oriented.
