Job Description

Ricardo Defense is currently recruiting for a Software Systems Engineer to support our United States Air Force customer in designing a secure integrated logistics enterprise ecosystem using an integrated model-based system engineering approach. The Software Systems Engineer will ensure that advanced systems are well defined, architected, and designed.  This Software Systems Engineer will primarily work remotely but must be willing to customer location or RDI offices occasionally.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Elicit customer needs following an effective customer engagement process
  • Perform requirements analysis, decomposition, use-case modeling and management
  • Transform system-level requirements into detailed software-level systems requirements
  • Define system requirements: to include, interface, architecture, and data definitions
  • Design Modular Open System Approach (MOSA) System of Systems Architecture
  • Develop System of System documentation: Operational Concept Description (OCD), System/Subsystem Specifications (SSS), System/Subsytem Design Description (SSDD), Interface Design Description (IDD)
  • Conduct Gap Analysis Trade Studies against proposed solutions
  • Lead milestone reviews for requirements, functions, designs, and test
  • Coordinate with cross-functional team members, including: US Government, partnering contractor organizations, and internal Data and Logistical SMEs
  • Assist in developing Systems of Systems Bill of Materials, with Logistical SME support
  • Assist in developing DoDAF Viewpoints and Data Models
  • If applicable, perform demonstrations of potential software solutions
  • Represent the company and communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders
  • A bachelors degree in Computer Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university is required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States Government Secret Security Clearance and Common Access Card (CAC). The minimum requirement to obtain a Security clearance is United States Citizenship. Applicants that do not meet these requirements will not be considered
  • a minimum of ten years of relevant software engineering experience
  • Experience with model-based systems engineering
  • Experience with Product Development Lifecycle
  • Experience using Model-Based Systems Engineering and/or Requirements Management tools (e.g. DOORS, Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw, etc.)
  • Fluency with a standard modelling representation such as UML, SysML, or UPDM
  • Familiarity with modular open systems approach
  • Familiarity with multiple software frameworks, programming languages, and operating environments
  • Knowledge of Software Development and Agile methodology in practice
  • Knowledge and experience in cybersecurity practices
