Job Description
Ricardo Defense has a rewarding opportunity for an experienced Material Handler at our Sterling Heights, MI facility. This Material Handler will be instrumental in supporting production demands by working within the materials and production teams.
This Material Handler will be required to perform a wide variety of tasks. This role will need to operate and excel in an environment with changing conditions and customer demands.
This position is Monday through Friday 6 am to 2:30 PM with occasional overtime required. Starting hourly pay is $18 an hour.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Consolidate and prepare orders
- Visually check and tag material accordingly
- Performs physical tasks to transport or store materials within the production area
- Performs a daily visual inspection of the general condition of the forklift, and fills out a daily forklift inspection sheet
- Be proactive to keep downtime to zero minutes
- Anticipate production needs and have replacement items available so that no downtime is incurred
- Responsible to ensure FIFO (First-In-First-Out) is used in all areas of the plant
- Demonstrate ability to work independently, problem solving, and troubleshooting within the department
- Responsible to ensure that his/her work area is clean and safe for himself/herself and others
- Responsible to make recommendations to continuously improve RDI material handling capabilities
- Must follow all safety practices, including wearing the proper PPE
- Must have the ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities
- Maintain pick locations by cutting product open and placing product in primary picking locations
- Break down pallets of returned product, match item quantity and description to returned packing slip and note any differences
- Organize orders to be picked in an efficient manner
- Stack empty pallets; clean and sweep work area and remove trash regularly
- Perform all tasks to ensure a safe work environment
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Leadership Qualities
- Good attendance record
- Production and assembly in the automotive industry
- Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a security clearance
- Proficient with sitting and standing forklift operation
- Material Handling in a manufacturing environment
- Lean manufacturing
- Ability to lift objects between 15 and 50 pounds
- Hand/Eye coordination
