We are currently looking for a Technical Director - WTS to join our Waste & Resource Management Team.

Purpose

Ricardo Energy & Environment’s Waste & Resource Management (WaRM) business area provides a wide range of consultancy services to the waste management industry. One of our core service areas is waste infrastructure, providing technical due diligence, owners engineer and expert witness amongst other technical advisory services.

We require an outstanding individual to join the Waste Technical Services (WTS) team within the WaRM business area of our Sustainable Infrastructure and Operations (SI&O) practice, bringing their knowledge and experience to provide direction and oversight to the range of highly technical waste infrastructure projects being undertaken by the team, both in the UK and around the world.

The successful candidate will lead the development of Ricardo’s waste infrastructure support services both in the UK and around the world, with an initial focus on the Middle East. This senior role will play a critical part in building Ricardo’s technical support services offering, from the identification and development of leads and new opportunities through to providing services such as owner’s representative, developing the team required to successfully deliver these roles. This is likely to require frequent travel, particularly to the Middle East which is a target region.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical credentials with the ability to lead, inspire and develop engineers, whilst also having the ability to develop and maintain excellent client relations and promoting the Ricardo brand as a center of technical excellence. They should have experience of infrastructure development (ideally in the waste sector, but experience in other sectors would also be considered) and a clear idea of how to build and structure teams to support the delivery of complex infrastructure projects. They will work alongside the WTS team leader and the WaRM Business Area Manger to achieve the growth objectives of the business through the delivery of orders and profitable work with respect to technical support to clients and ensuring maximum commercial and technical effectiveness and efficiency is maintained. They will also offer market insight and knowledge and contribute to the BA strategy as well as its successful delivery.

The successful candidate will be involved in work that makes the most of their expertise and experience. They will be expected to provide support to the Business Development Director in bringing on new opportunities with a focus on supporting implementation of waste infrastructure projects, such as the provision of technical advisory and owner’s representative services. Other potential workstreams include due diligence and feasibility projects, market and technology reviews and the procurement of waste infrastructure for public and private sector clients (both in the UK and internationally).
