Salary: £20,000 - £30,000

The Role:

The Water and Environment practice of Ricardo Energy & Environment offers a comprehensive range of specialist services within the environmental consultancy sector. Nationally and internationally recognised for our expertise in planning and overseeing complex and sensitive projects, our skills have been utilised by a wide range of clients within the public and private sectors including the European Commission, government, water companies and developers.

 

We are looking for an analyst consultant to undertake:

  • Data collation through water quality, hydrometry and ecological surveys.
  • Data processing, analysis, interpretation and visualisation using Excel and GIS.
  • Desk studies, option appraisals, impact assessment and reporting.

 

Much of our work is for water companies, but also covers wider infrastructure projects for developers and airports, where high quality data capture and analysis is essential to assess risk and support mitigations work.

 

The successful candidate will work across our water, ecology and environmental impact assessment teams. There is also the opportunity to work with other parts of our business with the aim of helping to develop a portfolio of projects where our water related expertise can complement other environmental assessments.

 

Key accountabilities:

You will input into a range of environmental assessments where data you capture and analyse can help with the understanding of baseline characteristic and change to support management options. You will need to be able to work effectively with water companies, developers, design engineers, contractors, planner and other regulators to help achieve positive outcomes of our projects. You will provide technical input into a wide range of projects as part of project teams.

 

Key competencies and experience:

Essential

  • Bachelors (2.1 or above) and ideally a post graduate degree in a relevant subject,
  • Understanding of the UK water industry
  • Thorough experience of using Excel and GIS packages (such as ArcGIS and QGIS)
  • Experience of reviewing and interpreting datasets, with excellent analytical skills
  • Effective report writing skills
  • Ability to fault find and problem solve in challenging environments
  • Effective time management skills
  • Willingness to learn from contributing to a broad range of fieldwork and office-based tasks
  • A full UK driver’s license.

 

Advantageous

  • Experience of terrestrial and aquatic fieldwork
  • Water safety training
  • Client facing experience.
