Job Description

Job title: Senior Data Engineer 

Capability level: Senior Consultant 

Location: London, Harwell, Manchester

You will be joining our fast-growing Data Science team. You will collaborate with our environmental experts to identify opportunities to create new products and services, as well as helping to shape and drive the wider Data Science strategy.  You will provide leadership on best practices in Python data science projects, using a professional software development approach.

Our work touches on many aspects of sustainability. Examples include helping to monitor and understand air quality in cities, informing better water and energy use, and exploring the environmental impact of new technologies.  


Key competencies and experience: 

  • Strong proficiency in Python, gained in a commercial environment  
  • Demonstrable experience of: 
  • Developing data pipelines, manipulating and cleaning data, extraction of data 
  • Using versioning systems (Git), task, test and release management tools 
  • Creating and deploying containerised solutions 
  • Experience in mentoring junior staff and developing capability in teams 
  • Interest and ability to learn and apply new technologies 
  • Experience in stakeholder and project management is desirable 
  • No previous experience in the environmental sector is necessary, but a passion for what we do is essential
