Who we are:
Ricardo Energy & Environment is a leading sustainability consultancy combining energy, climate change, environmental and chemical risk expertise with strong IT and economics capability. Operating across the world, we work in partnership with our customers to help transform the way they work, empowering business leaders with award winning consultancy advice. With unrivalled sector insight and a reputation for producing innovative solutions, we offer a stimulating and rewarding environment in which to work.
Our reputation in the water, agriculture and planning sectors has seen significant growth in our Water and Agricultural teams work to support clients in understanding the challenges and solutions to nutrient management across England and Wales. As such we have a strong technical understanding of how ecology, physical conditions, water quality, land use and infrastructure interface and lead to exceedances of environmental quality standards and as a result challenges for regulation, development and compliance across a range of sectors. We support councils, planners, and regulators, helping them to understand issues and recommend mitigation measures (from SuDS to catchment-based solutions) for managing nutrient neutrality and delivering sustainable water resource management. This varied work sees us working on problems from how to mitigation nitrate and phosphate resulting from infrastructure development to how land use change can reduce the need for water treatment. We are also currently in the process of developing practical tools for Natural England that will see a national rollout to help support nutrient neutral development.
We are keen to build on our success and expand this business area and to encompass other areas that link to water quality and other neutrality issues at a catchment scale. We recognise that with current Environmental Bill and Government plan 25 Year environment there are significant opportunities that lend itself to the development within our water and agricultural teams. We are therefore seeking to appoint a principal consultant that not only has technical specialism in this area but the insight and ambition to growth our strengths in the sectors of nutrient management/neutrality and wider catchment management work (including for example drinking water issues).
