We are looking for a Consultant or Analyst Consultant to join our team. This role will provide a stepping stone into your consultancy career in an exciting and rapidly changing sector.
The Power Planning & Solutions team comprises a group of highly experienced professionals specialising in techno-economic and management consultancy services for the energy sector, with particular emphasis on the power sector, including system planning, tariff studies, renewable energy integration, regulation and smart networks. We are a committed team of like-minded professionals with a growing portfolio of energy technology, policy and strategy projects.
Projects are split between the UK and overseas – the practice has undertaken assignments in nearly 100 countries. We have a broad range of clients, including multi-lateral lending agencies, governments, regulators, electricity companies, natural resources companies and private. In the UK the practice is involved in pioneering assignments working closely with distribution companies in the application of smart technology to improve the utilisation of electrical distribution systems. Our strength lies in our ability to combine strategic, financial/economic and technical advice as an integrated consultancy service to public and private sector clients.
From day one, you will be part of a team supporting senior consultants in delivering projects to our clients. Successful applicants will have strong numeracy, analytical and communication skills together with a proactive, organised approach and a pride in the quality of their work. Over time you will be expected to develop a strong understanding of the energy sector - including strategic, technical, commercial and regulatory aspects.
You will contribute to research and analysis that underpins our consultancy work. You will manage your time across several projects, contributing in all phases - from supporting the preparation of proposals to win new contracts, through researching and analysing information and data, to contributing to reports that are delivered to clients. You will be responsible for the quality and delivery of your work, and liaise with other consultants to incorporate your contribution into wider project outputs.
Skills and experience
The position would suit:
- Consultant –Experience in a power engineering environment with a strong degree in electrical engineering;
- Analyst Consultant - Undergraduate or graduate applicants with a strong degree in electrical engineering;
- An interest in the energy and power sector;
- The ability to effectively communicate and interact with colleagues in the practice and clients;
- The ability to breakdown complex research questions, think creatively and solve novel problems;
- Strong communication skills;
- Fluency in English is essential, fluency in French is desirable.

Salary - £25,000 - £35,000 per annum plus benefits
