Job Description

Ricardo Defense is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to support our Department of Defense customer at their Warren, MI location.  This Systems Engineer will work directly with customers to support both fielded combat vehicle systems and modification/upgrade programs.  The Systems Engineer will perform analysis of system requirements, develop architectures, support the development of program engineering plans, ensuring that advanced military systems are architected, designed, and tested in concert with disciplined functional safety approaches and analyses.  Materials related to the preparation and conduct of engineering technical reviews will be developed to support key technology areas, which will be integrated into future modernization efforts that will focus on survivability and energy management.  

Candidates for this position must be able to perform successfully both collaboratively and independently with periodic oversight. This position requires regular interaction with customers and subject matter experts.  Some travel between Ricardo offices and customer locations required.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•Act as technical lead working closely with the project team to manage and support the execution of technical tasks

•Manage the technical execution of subcontracts on the program

•Allocate system-level requirements to sub-system and component levels

•Collaborate with project managers, development team, suppliers and customers to ensure that requirements and expectation are addressed in all phases of the project

•Conduct reviews with product teams to ensure requirements are being met throughout product development cycle

•Able to successfully represent the company and communicate effectively with customers

•Experience with DoD terminology, missions, and ground vehicles, preferably with the US Army

•Experience with Product Development Life Cycle (Systems, Software)

•Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and/or Requirements Management tools (Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw, DOORS, etc.)

•Minimum of 5 years of U.S. Government contracting experience in Ground Combat vehicles.

•Experience with the Ground Combat Vehicle Vetronics Architecture and Software Development Process

•Good technical leadership, planning and organization/control skills

•Strong analytic and problem-solving skills

•Experience with Cybersecurity rationale, development, and modernization

•The ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and persuasively to peers, management and customers

•Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university in engineering or other relevant field

•10+ years of relevant systems engineering experience

•Excellent written communication skills and ability to present standout presentations

•Ability to effectively collaborate in multidiscipline engineering environments

•System design, requirements management and architecture modeling experience required.

•Good technical leadership, planning and organization/control skills

•Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
