Position Title: HSEQ Project Lead
Department: Ricardo Rail UK
Reporting to: Global HSEQ Manager

Our activities cover a range of market sectors including passenger car, commercial vehicle, rail, defence, motorsport, motorcycle, off-highway, marine, clean energy and power generation.
Within that group, Ricardo Rail is a 600-person multi-disciplinary railway consultancy providing expert advisory and independent assurance services across the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia. The UK business employs c120 consultants in offices in London, Preston, York, Bristol and Derby.

We have a new opportunity to join our team as HSEQ Project Lead. This role will report directly into the Global HSEQ Manager and will hold responsibility for delivery of HSEQ project work. You will support the HSEQ Manager with operational performance, enabling the successful delivery of HSEQ objectives.
The primary place of work is flexible but there will be some travel to London and Derby and travel at any of our overseas locations.
Ensuring the development of policies and procedures (writing, revising and approving), ensuring regulatory compliance in conjunction with being “fit for purpose”
Analyse the Rail Division Management System and any need for improvement working in partnership with the Divisional Directors and HSEQ team.
Preparing the company for audits from all accreditation bodies.
Carry out internal audits
Develop Rail Division Management System manual
Review trends and identify actions from preventative and corrective actions
Identity and project manage HSEQ improvement projects.
Develop lessons learnt programme
Develop and implement a framework for project document control
Mapping and updating of ISO standards
Improvement and management of the internal audit schedule.
Conduct compliance evaluations
Develop and deliver HSEQ training material.
Improve and maintain the Divisional risk profile
Support with the development and implementation of a formal safety maturity model
Develop and deliver HSEQ communications
Drive forward wellbeing initiatives
Conduct fire risk assessments
Develop a system for conducting safety tours
Help develop environmental objectives and initiatives
Experienced professional with quality, health & safety and environmental knowledge.
Broad skill base preferably from an engineering and Rail background (consultancy or professional services);
Should have good eye for detail and personal presence, able to work at all levels with a variety of cultures;
Excellent IT skills, prepared to advocate, specify and implement new tools and methods;
Excellent facilitator, process improver and change agent;
Trainer, problem solver also able to police systems and encourage compliance;
Able to manage and prioritise multiple demands;
Qualifications, Training, Knowledge and Experience expected:
Experience in HSEQ focused role, preferably within the engineering domain. (consultancy or professional services is beneficial).
Education or experience of engineering sector.
(engineering degree, railway experience or similar is beneficial).
Relevant HSEQ professional qualifications, Minimum NEBOSH General Certificate and either an environmental or quality qualification.
Working knowledge of Rail HSEQ requirements - Advantage
Experience of internal audit.
Experience of ISO9001,14001, OHSAS18001.
(awareness of ISO17020, ISO 17065, ISO 27001 is beneficial)
