Within that group, Ricardo Rail is a 600-person multi-disciplinary railway consultancy providing expert advisory and independent assurance services across the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia. The UK business employs c120 consultants in offices in London, Preston, York, Bristol and Derby.

Business Development Coordinator 

We are currently seeking a Business Development Coordinator to become a critical member of the Global Account Management team. This role presents an exciting opportunity for candidates who want to make a big impact delivering global initiatives, managing senior stakeholders from across the division and becoming a key part of the division’s future success.

Our ideal candidate would be determined and enthusiastic with excellent organisational and communication skills. They will be able to work under pressure, to tight deadlines with changing priorities from the Project Manager and senior members of the division.

The candidate will have strong Microsoft suite skills, excel especially and the ability to quickly, learn and use new tools is essential.

Experience in the Rail industry is not essential.

Your primary focus will be to ensure the growth and implementation of our Global Account Management Program, delivering program initiatives and ensuring these are successfully embedded in the business.

You will liaise with offices and senior colleagues across the division to coordinate business development efforts, ensuring our global teams are focusing on the most effective opportunities to maximise the pipeline.

Through collaboration with colleagues, identifying leads and the actions needed to materialise opportunities, you will drive efforts towards winning work presented by global projects and our clients. You will be responsible for identifying the need for specific teams and establishing and coordinating these.


Accountability / Key Responsibilities

Global Account Management Program responsibilities
Proactively seek to improve the Account Management Program, its processes, ways of working, tools and teams. Work with the Account Directors and the Project Manager to identify opportunities for improvement and to implement initiatives.

You will plan, deliver and monitor the benefits of initiatives under the program, ensure these add value to the business, such as implementing a ‘Voice of the Customer’ for our key clients.

You will provide updates and reports if necessary, on the status of these initiatives and drive divisional awareness of the program. Part of this will involve delivering ‘Lunch and Learns’ and tools or process training where needed.

Business Development responsibilities:
Work with the division’s senior stakeholders to establish and coordinate account teams for specific clients and client groupings and global projects where appropriate. Support the development and maintenance of account strategies, relationship mapping and pipeline management.

Monitor the success of account teams, identifying opportunities for improvement in the account management process, the account teams or the materials and tools our account teams work with. You will provide regular updates or reporting, where needed, on the progress these accounts are making, ensuring we are maximising the benefits from each of the teams.

Support the business by maintaining and creating relevant materials, tools and information or working with service managers to deliver these to our clients. Drive, monitor and manage the collation of business development materials for the division to use.


Personal Attributes

Educated to degree level.

1-3 years of experience preferably in a client facing or project delivery role.

IT literate – Must be skilled in MS Office suit, especially Excel, and learning to use new software and systems in a short time.

Able to travel to all UK offices and possibly internationally for business development activities.

Ability to prepare professionally presented and well-structured reports
