Job Description

Located at our facility in Van Buren, MI the Quality Engineer’s role is a broad-based position to support supplier and customer quality assurance. It is a unique opportunity for a Quality Engineering professional to be responsible for multiple critical areas simultaneously; quality, supplier audits, applications, change management, and customer relations. This Quality Engineer will learn and lead all supplier and customer quality aspects for our mission critical programs.

This Quality Engineer position is for a plant start-up and operating flexibility is required.

Responsibilities:
This Quality Engineer position has the following duties and responsibilities:

Execute and improve engineering and ISO documentation, processes and quality systems

Ensure that suppliers provide products that conform to specified and prescribed standards, including issuance of CARs

Lead containment efforts and return problem parts

Plan, organize and lead small technical teams to address difficult engineering problems - develop both short, and long-term corrective actions when necessary

Visit/audit supplier facilities to support APQP, PPAP, Supplier assessment audit, surveillance visits PPAP and quality checkups

Manage customer quality requirement documentation

Lead internal quality system to include SOPs, control plans and ISO audits

Works closely with procurement, design and system engineers

Responds to technical and quality issues reported at the customer assembly location and from the field

Receive and respond to Field Problem Reports

Ability to work with all levels of the internal and external organizations

Travel to customer or suppliers on short-notice (10-30% throughout North America)

Essential Qualifications:

Must be a US Citizen with ability to obtain a United States Government security clearance

Engineering degree from an accredited college or University in an applicable field. We will substitute a bachelors degree for a High School Diploma (HSD) or an associates degree with equivalent experience

A minimum of two year of experience in manufacturing quality is preferred

Knowledge of automotive technology and product development

The ability to work in a team setting or on your own and be self-motivated

A good communicator with intercultural and interpersonal skills

The ability to communicate and present effectively to suppliers and clients

Tenacity, resilience and focus

General knowledge of manufacturing processes

High attention to detail
