Job Description

Position Summary:

Manages the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk and enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results.


Essential Functions:

  • Manages accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, general accounting, banking/cash management and tax matters; internal and external audits
  • Maintains chart of accounts and ensures robustness of reporting structure is consistent with business needs, as required by local management, Group and regulatory and government agencies
  • Prepares reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses and earnings based on past, present and expected operations
  • Assists in preparation of budget and forecast
  • Provides operational insight into factors affecting performance.  Identifies financial performance risks to business and opportunities to mitigate
  • Leads risk management practices.  Advises management on protection against property losses and potential liabilities.  Manages risk through negotiation of terms or credit insurance
  • Reviews company financial statements for accuracy and clarity.  Performs or reviews account reconciliations to ensure integrity.  Maintains good internal control practices and establishes accounting policies and practices within Internal Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Group guidelines.
  • Performs ad hoc analysis required to improve business performance and leads various projects.
  • Maintains significant signature authority to authorize financial data for the company and its bank accounts
  • Manages the Accounting team to include efficient staffing, employee development and training, performance management and policy enforcement

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; Master’s degree preferred
  • Ten years of progressively more responsible operational and corporate finance experience; tax, IFRS and treasury experience required; CPA or CMA certification preferred
  • Experience in a Defense contracting environment strongly preferred
  • Benefits and 401(k) administration experience desirable
  • Five years extensive leadership experience; highly professional in appearance and approach; exudes expertise and credibility

  • Strong but customer-aware negotiation skills; ability to influence

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, Access and Power Point
