You will be leading the successful delivery of the steering system on a project to meet functional performance, quality, cost and timing targets. You will define the system specifications of hydraulic, electric-hydraulic or electric power assisted steering systems, as well as system level attribute targets from the vehicle level attribute targets and cascade relevant targets to the chassis team. You will develop an understanding of the mechanical, electrical and functional safety requirements for autonomous vehicles and provide guidance to CAD designers, in component design and packaging work. You will also be resposible for liaising with our CAE team to ensure braking system components meet all performance and attribute targets.
Responsibility for outlining and supporting the test and development activities and ensuring compliance for the steering system will lie with you, as will creation and delivery of Design Verification (DV) plans and managing DV delivery.
