Our National Chemical Emergency Centre (NCEC) is the UK’s premier chemical emergency response centre and is recognised as a leading global provider for technical advice with over 40 years of heritage – setup originally in 1973 and still grant funded by Government for our support to the emergency services.

Today NCEC has a global client base of over 550 companies including 50% of the world's top 100 chemical manufacturers as well as many other public and private sector clients. In pursuit of our growth plans we are looking for an additional sales manager to deliver new sales in emergency response, regulatory offerings and crisis management to high value customers globally.

NCEC has achieved substantial growth over the last 5 years, with double digit growth in the last 3, securing large multiyear contracts with some of the world’s best known chemical companies. Customers come to us for our technical expertise combined with the unique systems and processes that allow us to provide a truly globally compliant, 24-hour multilingual emergency response service. We also have a number of supporting products and services which provide regulatory and crisis support to organisations.

Purpose:

NCEC is seeking a consultative sales professional to conduct high value sales and develop new revenue streams for the National Chemical Emergency Centre (NCEC). The individual will be responsible for their own direct sales to new customers, identifying opportunities and developing senior level customer relations within a chemical regulatory business. This is a pure ‘hunting’ role where the individual will be responsible for searching out opportunities in large target multinationals from a variety of sectors, including but not just limited to chemical manufactures, in line with the business strategy.

Key accountabilities:

  • Focus on developing new business sales for the NCEC portfolio, identifying sales opportunities within a wide range of companies across multiple sectors in the UK and overseas.
  • Establish and maintain existing relationships at senior levels within NCEC’s target customer base.
  • Work with colleagues in account management and new sales to deliver within the business strategy.
  • Identify and develop relationships with suitable trade associations, industry groups, private companies and other organisation’s through which NCEC products and services can be sold, particularly related to specific sectors.
  • Contribute to identifying new offerings which NCEC can develop and sell to existing or new customers through established/ new channels.
  • Maintain Ricardo-AEA and NCEC’s premium brand and strong track record of delivering customer excellence.
  • Proactively support and input to the marketing strategy and its tactical implementation

Key competencies and experience:

  • Proven experience/ability in new high value business development/generation.
  • Pipeline management with strong commercial acumen.
  • Professional business manner and working practice, able to set an example for the rest of the team.
  • Capability and willingness to be self-sufficient in prospect generation, with support from the wider team, including marketing
  • Proven track record of hitting and achieving sales targets, and processing prospects through the entire sales cycle.

Desirable:

  • Relevant experience in the chemical industry (or a related industry)
  • Relevant experience in crisis management or communication sales
  • Links to high risk sectors (either physical risk or reputational risk such as O&G, mining, construction and transportation.

  • Highly organised with effective prioritisation skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills across all levels.
