Ricardo Rail is a global multi-disciplinary rail consultancy providing services in expert advice and independent assurance across the UK, Europe, Middle East and Asia where we employ c500 consultants working on rolling stock, infrastructure and independent assurance projects.

Our UK Rail business employs c120 consultants in offices in London, Preston, York, Bristol and Derby, which is our head office.

We provide consultancy and independent assurance services, including NoBo, DeBo, AsBo and ISA, across infrastructure and rolling stock to a clients including infrastructure managers, train manufactures, equipment manufacturers and maintainers.

We are now looking to recruit an Interoperability and Assurance Specialist to join our NoBo/DeBo/AsBo Infrastructure delivery teams.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a consultant with a general experience of railway infrastructure and the interoperability regulations and the associated TSIs and local UK standards relevant to infrastructure projects.

You will join our team in London and work with our project teams and advise and support them in the delivery of projects in the approvals domain and also where required support our clients in terms of assurance and interoperability advice and expertise.

As a specialist in Interoperability you will work as part of a project team delivering NoBo/DeBo services and advise the project team on the implementation of the regulations and TSIs and support the project team in discussions with the client and other stakeholders.

You will have developed relationships with regulatory bodies such as the Office of Rail and Road (ORR), the European Railway Agency (ERA), railway undertakings and other stakeholders.

You will also have the opportunity to work on wider railway projects both in the UK and overseas.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

  • To deliver service/advice/support to clients and Ricardo Rail projects.
  • Manage assurance projects with responsibility for delivering to timescale, quality and budget and manage the client relationship.
  • Producing commercial proposals and liaising with clients to secure work.
  • Representing Ricardo Rail at industry events and committees.
  • Maintaining your own competence and knowledge to be at the forefront of the railway assurance industry.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Degree educated in a relevant discipline.
  • Chartered status or equivalent, or working towards this.
  • Experience of railway infrastructure approvals and/or a desire to learn and develop.
  • Analytical and methodical problem solving.
  • Excellent report writing skills with an eye for detail.
  • A visible passion for the rail industry.
  • Versatile and adaptable, able to operate under pressure.
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Flexibility to travel in the UK and short durations overseas if required.
